NEW PRICING POLICY — AUGUST 2011
I charge $75 an hour, billed against a pre-paid retainer. This has been my standard pricing for the last four years. HOWEVER, I have decided to make a policy change in response to our serious economic crisis, which does not appear to be something that will be resolved anytime soon. Like you, I see how it continues to create substantial emotional distress and financial struggle for everyone—including non-profits. And, this is really depressing me! So…
My hourly rate will remain unchanged for for-profit companies and individuals. Any individual who is actually starting up a non-profit organization will be considered a non-profit under my new discount rate provision.
Although I have always provided price breaks for my non-profit customers, I am now introducing an equitable process for this. Rather than providing free hours here or there, or awarding bonus hours at the end of a contract, I have chosen to simply reduce my hourly rate until we see significant improvement in the overall economy. The reason why I mention this is because I want folks to understand that reducing my fees is temporary. Once our nation has fully recovered from this fiscal mess, my rate will revert back to my standard charge of $75 per hour—across the board. Until that time, I will extend a price reduction to ALL non-profits.
Instead of offering package deals of 10% to 20% off my standard hourly rate, which has been based on volume and frequency of work, … we will simplify this:
My new rate for non-profit organizations is $60 per hour. I will guarantee this rate through the end of 2011. Clearly, non-profits are desperately needed as demand for human services is skyrocketing. And, I know you need me. This is my way of doing my part in answering that call, and helping to address the many needs of our neighbors in crisis.
Outside this…
· I do NOT work on contingency, nor do I accept deferred payment arrangements or percentage deals (which are actually considered unethical). While there is a common misconception that grant writers only get paid if you receive a funding award, this is a myth.
· Since I am frequently asked about Pro Bono services, I’ll be very frank about that topic. Any donated time on my part is given to my loyal, active clients as a token of my appreciation and support. I do not offer Pro Bono beyond this.
